Day 29 - April 7
A gym and track day.
Today was another chance to find my edge on the back squat. My previous limit was 145kg, this time 150kg moved just fine. I’ll be ready for more next time.
I had a few minutes to spare after lunch. My coach suggested I go enjoy some of the sunshine outside ahead of the track session. Just as I stepped out, I ran into one of my training partners. She invited me to join her at the pump track. I’ve been curious about it, but never made time to try it out. Anything apart from the track and road bikes is outside my comfort zone.
I hesitated, and offered to just watch, but she wouldn’t hear it. It was her insistence that made me cave…definitely not seeing preschoolers ride while I stood on the side nervously.
I gave it a careful go. I made a lap around, and I felt like a new person when I got back to the start ramp. It was fun to live outside the straight and even lines if only for a few laps.
Lifting 330 pounds was easy compared to the courage it took to get on a new kind of bike.
What are you currently watching from the sidelines that you could just as easily try?
