Day 42 - April 20
The coaching course wrapped up today. Morning sessions covered anti-doping and coaching women and children, followed by a final exam.
With some time after the exam, I got on the rollers. Thirty minutes passed faster than I expected. I missed the track bike these last few days. Riding the LeMond felt great. I was hitting my cadence numbers with ease. I felt fresh and approached each effort with renewed enthusiasm.
As volume picks back up this week, I’m excited to see how the legs will hold up.
I’ll admit that last week I was getting antsy. I had that feeling familiar to most athletes where time off for recovery feels like falling behind. I've learned that recovering properly is a skill on its own. Each recovery week is a chance to practice trusting that the adaptations are coming, even when you can’t feel them.
Knowing how to rest is part of knowing how to perform.
What would change about your recovery if you treated it as a skill worth developing?
