Day 24 - April 2
Back inside for our long track efforts and last track day of the week. This could have been a day to dread, but I was ready to avenge myself after last week. I was ready to leave it all on the track.
Before the session I reminded myself:
"It won’t hurt forever."
"It’s only thirty seconds - squeeze it all out."
The session started with a flying 200m PB - 10.73. In a sport of margins, two hundredths of a second can determine a win or loss. Happy to say I managed to beat myself. It also confirmed that Monday wasn't a fluke.
Moving into the three remaining 600m efforts, I beat last week’s times across all of them. I distinctly felt more connected to the bike through each turn and my legs were engaged from start to finish.
I gave it my honest effort last week. My ceiling has risen since then.
The best competition is the one you have with your own previous effort.
What does beating yourself look like in your own pursuit?
