Day 19 - March 28
This was the most challenging Saturday by far.
The road ride came with a bonus of three one-minute uphill sprints. The previous road rides had been relatively flat. This time, we took to the hills in a new direction.
New roads, new views, new heights.
At 97kg (213lbs), climbing takes a different kind of effort. I checked behind me a couple of times to make sure I didn’t accidentally start dragging a cart of logs with me. It was a good hurt though. With each pedal stroke I reminded myself the pain had a purpose.
Cresting each hill brought a surge of joy. It meant a break from the ascent and the thrill of a descent. With my size, I feel like a runaway freight train on the way down.
Tough, but worth it. I’ll choose this route again next week.
Nothing stays uphill forever. Every period of resistance has a release on the other side.
How would you change your approach to the hard parts if you trusted the downhill was coming?
