Day 14 - March 23
Legs, body, and mind felt fresh and recovered from the weekend. Today was about adaptability.
Our track session was moved up to 10am-12pm instead of the usual 2-5pm. This meant waking up earlier than usual and eating an extra bowl of oats alongside my eggs, toast, and muesli.
The air in the velodrome was cold. Warming up took longer than usual. Despite feeling ready, I couldn’t find my top gear in the first two efforts. Everything turned on for the three sprints that followed.
The session was memorable for being different in small ways. The sunlight in the velodrome hit at a different angle. The cold air slowing everything down. The day done by noon, instead of just beginning. Felt a bit like a twilight zone.
Conditions won’t always be perfect. Part of being a strong athlete is being able to perform through the inconveniences.
What gets you through when the conditions aren’t what you planned for?
